WOPART was the perfect opportunity to inaugurate “Reflections on the lake” an exhibition by Italian artist Omar Galliani. Galliani has works exhibited in some of the most important museums in the world and is considered one of the most interesting personalities of contemporary art.

On Saturday 22nd September, Maestro Galliani inaugurated his exhibition at an evening event dedicated to WOPART.

His exhibition can be viewed from September 2nd to November 30th and is set up in different areas of the hotel; the journey guides the viewer through a series of unpublished works that demonstrates the artist’s sensitivity, his technique and his suggestive images and explores the relationship with the lake and the poetry of water.

The exhibition also includes an unpublished work created by the Maestro specifically for THE VIEW Lugano called “Blu Oltremare”, which can be seen hanging in one of the two luxurious suites overlooking the lake.

The narcissistic relationship with the waters of Lake Lugano, indicates the authors desire to find a common link between the physical reflection of the face and the deeper psychological reflection with all its consequences: from ecstatic beauty to self doubt. An eastern influence characterizes all the works on display. The use of gold leaf and ultramarine blue in some works amplifies the aesthetic and conceptual result. Berenice is the name of some of the large works, where the stars and planets come together around the ecstatic gaze of a “she” whose face remains hidden from the observer. In this way the mystery of the drawing merges with the complexity of the subject. A perfect short circuit of exemplary technique and the search for new content in the past, present and future of design.
