What to do in Lugano

There are many attractions to visit and many things to discover, from an excursion on the Lake, to a walk in the mountains, a trendy night at the Casino, a shopping tour in the most prestigious boutiques of the city, a traditional lunch in a Grotto or a romantic dinner on the lakeshore.

ART

AND CULTURE
  • The LAC “Lugano Arte e Cultura”, is a new centre dedicated to the visual arts, music and the performing arts. Enjoy the theatre, or visit the museum exhibiting Canton Ticino’s collections. Visit the LAC and its art gallery for a guided tour.
  • The city of Lugano, is a must for visitors thanks to its’ diverse architecture which includes the Cathedral of San Lorenzo, dating back to the Middle Ages, its wonderful museums, its piazzas where the best Cappuccinos are served, its great shopping and its funicular rides to the top of the surrounding mountains, with the most amazing views over Ticino.
  • Take a short visit to the Santa Maria degli Angioli Church in the Luini Square.

  • Take one of the many cruises on the Lake of Lugano and enjoy the tranquillity and the sunshine, visit quaint romantic villages along the lake shore, take walks on some of the beautiful scenic paths, visit museums, or enjoy a meal in a typical Swiss grotto.
  • Ticino is also known internationally for its excellent Merlot wines, so perhaps a visit to one of the famous cellars to enjoy some 
wine tasting.
  • Have lunch on the lake, either at La Lanchetta Restaurant or at Rosa dei Venti situated in the Lugano Harbour.
  • Enjoy a coffee break with pastries at Grand Café al Porto.
  • Try a wine tasting experience in one of Ticino’s excellent wine cellars, like the Fattoria Moncucchetto in Lugano or ask reception 
to book a tour of the private vineyard of Castello di Morcote.

NATURE

  • Discover the parks and gardens of Lugano and surroundings. Visit Parco San Grato by electric Smart Car, compliments of the hotel or perhaps Parco Ciani in the City Center.
  • Cruise on the lake by official transportation or by private speed boat.
  • Ride the funicular to the top of one of the surrounding mountains for spectacular views over Ticino; Monte San Salvatore or Monte Bré.
  • Get into the mood of Lugano and its’ surroundings with a stroll through the pedestrian only city centre. Take a long walk along the Lugano lake shore to Gandria, on Il Sentiero degli Ulivi (Olive Tree Trail) which will take about an hour, or drive yourself in a complimentary electric Smart car to the fishing village of Morcote, where you can also visit the wonderful Parco Scherrer and its stunning church.

  • In the afternoon, indulge in some shopping in Via Nassa, with a stop for photos at the Gabbani Gastronomy Corner.
