David Paquette

On Thursday the 4th of July, the internationally renowned Jazz pianist David Paquette will be playing during a Gourmet Cocktail at THE VIEW Lugano. Don’t miss this wonderful event.  

David Paquette, born on March 25th 1950 in the USA, is a well-known American jazz pianist who has recorded more than 45 records. Some highlights of his career include the European Jazz Circuit Tour, the creation and direction of a twenty-year annual jazz festival on Waiheke Island in New Zealand, and his musical direction at the Four Seasons Hotel in Sydney, Australia. David Paquette is also one of the founding pillars of the Ascona Jazz Festival, where he presides and directs all the editions.

Paquette’s first steps as a professional musician saw him performing in the most exclusive clubs of Chicago, New York, Bevery Hills and Aspen, Colorado. During his travels he got to know the most illustrious jazz music personalities and embraced the frenetic night life typical of the world of blues.

In 1984, Paquette became the musical director for Spike Milligan throughout Australia. Captured by the beauty of Waiheke Island, Paquette returned to New Zealand to settle.

Today he dedicates much of his time to his Charitable Trust, the “Paquette Jazz Foundation” which supports both emerging and existing talents through a scholarship, a mentoring program and a musical retreat on Waiheke Island.

Swiss Company Glattfelder

James Glattfelder arrived in Engadine from Zurich and opened a grocery store in St. Moritz. At the time, he had no idea that more than 80 years later ,his name would still represent quality. His son Jakob -Tazi-Glattfelder took over the company in 1974 and turned it into a specialist coffee, tea and caviar shop. Although Glattfelder also offers spices and salmon, coffee, tea and caviar are at the heart of this third generation family-run businesses. Top quality, top class.

Anyone looking for this hidden shop in the center of the village of St. Moritz should count on their sense of smell and sight. In the middle of the pedestrian area, one can smell the freshly ground coffee, which is almost as incredible as the “Caviar Stübli”. Inside the shop one is personally advised by CEO Alice Bührer’s team. It is obvious that for Bührer, the quality of the product comes first: “We are committed to providing our customers with only the freshest and best products available on the market. This is only possible through long-standing and close relationships with the our suppliers “.

The Swiss company Dyhrberg

Genuine pleasure made by hand is the motto of the Dyhrberg company created in 1965, refineing and smoking 800 tons of Salmon every year. For the past 54 years the family has focused on maintaining the quality of its production. Only the highest quality wild and certified farmed products are sold by the Dyhrberg company. With a pioneering spirit, they brought smoked salmon prepared according to the ancient Nordic tradition to Switzerland for the first time. New, undiscovered worlds of taste thus became available to their customers. Only the most exquisite and noble salmons make their way into our smokehouse in the Thal Nature Park. Filleted by hand, sprinkled with precious sea salts while dry and then smoked in a wood-fired oven according to tradition.

Our story begins in 1990 when the 6 hectares of vineyard, now the heart of the company, were planted in Rancate. In 2016 my husband and I started our professional career in Switzerland, taking over the management of the Tenuta Castello di Cantone vineyards and beginning the winemaking process. Our Passion began with academic and professional experiences gained internationally, degrees from the l’Università degli Studi in Milan, under the guidance of Professor Attilio Scienza and Lucio Brancadoro and then from the Institut des Sciences de la Vigne et du Vin in Bordeaux with Denis Dubourdieu, where we refined our viticultural and enological techniques.

Michelin Star chefs return to Lugano for another exceptional evening!

Wednesday 3rd of April, a new prestigious chef will be the protagonist of the special evening of  “Dining with the Stars” dedicated to the Trentino cuisine: Chef Alfio Ghezzi of the Restaurant “Locanda Margon” will be hosted by THE VIEW Fine Dining Restaurant.

Born in 1970, in Trentino di Tione, Alfio Ghezzi came to the Locanda Margon, the Cantine Ferrari restaurant in April 2010 with an excellent curriculum. “ Thanks to my training with Marchesi, I learned to appreciate a simple style of cooking founded on rigorous principles, essentiality and balance, and with Berton i received an overall view and learnt the importance of precision. Two masters in every way: they will always be my two mentors ”.

 The event is organized in collaboration with Martino Crespi Events.
